The German, who won her maiden Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, will play either local hope Shelby Rogers or Lara Arruabarrena of Spain.
It’s a full day of play on Day 2, as former winner Sam Stosur is in action during the day session, as is Genie Bouchard, the former world No. 5.
Local fans are in for a treat in the night session. Following Kerber’s match, University of South Carolina Gamecock pair Hadley Berg and Paige Cline, wild card entrants here in Charleston, take on Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva in doubles.
Tickets are still available for the day and evening sessions! More info here.
