Shelby’s Picks: Rogers Shares Her Charleston Favorites

It’s not often that a WTA star gets to play a big event in her hometown. But that’s the case for Shelby Rogers, the Charleston-raised South Carolina native who on Monday won her first main draw match at the Volvo Car Open in five career appearances.

Being at home also means being able to re-visit some of your favorite places. Rogers, 22, travels the world to tennis’ biggest stop, but it’s only once a year that she gets to stop in South Carolina. This year, the rising star on the WTA shared some of her most-liked stops with the Cup.

Here you have them:

Shelby’s don’t-miss restaurants: Basil, Fleet Landing, California Dreaming and Poe’s Tavern.

Shelby’s must-see places: Sullivan’s Island Beach, The Battery, Pineapple Fountain at Waterfront Park, Rainbow Row

Shelby’s must-dos in Charleston: Attend a Citadel football game, see a concert at the Music Farm, watch a Stringrays hockey game, visit Charleston Place Hotel (especially at Christmas time!), stroll King Street’s shopping district and step aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown at Patriot’s Point.
