Main draw play kicked off with the Credit One Stadium celebrating its opening day. Teen Linda Fruhvirtova scored the first win in the renovated stadium, while Alize Cornet and Amanda Anisimova won, too, and Petra Kvitova was forced to retire. Local hope Shelby Rogers fell in three sets to Kaia Kanepi.
