PEGULA, FERNANDEZ + MORE LAUNCH DOUBLES CAMPAIGNS
Wildcards Paula Badosa of Spain and Bianca Andreescu of Canada, as well as 2022 tournament champion Belinda Bencic of Switzerland highlight a star-studded Tuesday lineup at the 2026 Credit One Charleston Open at LTP Daniel Island.
The 2019 US Open titlist Andreescu, who is appearing in Charleston for the first time, will kick off the action in Credit One Stadium at 11 a.m., when she faces Hungary’s Dalma Galfi. Badosa, a former world No. 2, will follow against American qualifier Kayla Day.
The No. 3 seed Bencic will usher in the night session (not before 6 p.m.) against Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, against whom she is 4-1. The Swiss is making her ninth appearance in Charleston. In her tournament debut, she reached the 2014 semifinals as a 17-year-old qualifier. In 2022, she won it all when she beat Ons Jabeur in the final. Bencic nearly defended her crown the following year, only to finish as runner-up to Jabeur in a rematch.
“It was amazing when I played here in 2014 for the first time, but every year it just keeps improving,” said Bencic. “I think for players, this is the nicest tournament. My favorite thing is just to stay downtown, kind of stroll around the city. There are so many nice boutiques. Just really not to have a plan and just stroll around, have some ice cream, some oysters. This is a tournament that I’ve always played my whole career and I will always play.”

Jessica Pegula will return to the Charleston match courts for the first time since capturing the singles title last year, this time in doubles alongside countrywoman Asia Muhammad on Court 3. The tandem will take on American Jennifer Brady and New Zealander Erin Routliffe, who last year claimed the doubles title with Jelena Ostapenko.
Elsewhere, Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic take on Anna Bondar of Hungary and Magdalena Frech of Poland, also on Court 3.
