In 2025, the Credit One Charleston Open celebrated 25 years of award-winning tennis on Daniel Island, continuing a legacy that began on Hilton Head Island in 1973. For a quarter century, the world’s best players and most passionate fans have gathered in Charleston for nine days of tennis excellence.

As the largest women’s-only professional tennis tournament in North America, the event welcomes nearly 90,000 attendees to the state-of-the-art Credit One Stadium each spring. It features a 48-player singles draw, a 24-player qualifying draw and a 16-team doubles draw.

In April 2025, Credit One Bank extended its title partnership of the tournament through 2031 and announced that, beginning in 2026, the Credit One Charleston Open will award equal prize money—a historic milestone that underscores a shared commitment to advancing women’s sports. This move reflects the bank’s belief that women athletes deserve equal investment and opportunity, and further cements Charleston’s role as a leader on the WTA Tour. With this announcement, the Credit One Charleston Open became the first standalone WTA 500 tournament to voluntarily increase prize money to match comparable ATP 500 events.

Recognized as the WTA 500 Tournament of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024, the Credit One Charleston Open has been honored by the WTA for its player experience, dedicated team and welcoming atmosphere. This award reflects the tournament’s ongoing commitment to both the sport and its athletes, as well as the enthusiasm of its fans.
