DUO WILL FACE SHNAIDER/STEARNS IN SEMIFINALS ON FRIDAY
Desirae Krawczyk, a Credit One Charleston Open doubles titlist in 2023 alongside Danielle Collins, is aiming for a return to the final in 2025, this time with a different partner: Caroline Dolehide.
Not that Krawczyk/Dolehide is a first-time pairing. The American duo kicked off 2024 with a trip to the WTA 1000 final in Qatar, followed by semifinal appearances in Rome, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and a title run in Toronto. On Thursday night on Althea Gibson Club Court, they held off vets Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova, 6-4, 6-2, to move into the final four in Charleston.

“It’s definitely a team that you do not want to take lightly,” said Krawczyk of the Mattek-Sands and Safarova combo, doubles titlists here in 2017. “We did everything we could. We played some of our best tennis, honestly. The communication is getting better and better every single time we play together. We really just help each other out on court.”
“She knows me. She known my tendencies and everything,” echoed Dolehide. “We’re a great team.”
But there’s still plenty of work ahead. Awaiting them in the semifinals are Diana Shnaider and Peyton Stearns, who advanced via a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 win over Hao-Ching Chan and Veronika Kudermetova.
