Wednesday showers bring… a packed schedule on Thursday.
There’s no other way to put it, with four second-round matches still to be finished and all eight of the round of 16 clashes to take place at the Credit One Charleston Open.
Yes, that means some players are in for double duty to book spots in Friday’s quarterfinals, including No.2 seed and defending champion Ons Jabeur.
Jabeur looks to join fellow top seeds Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari and Daria Kasatkina, the 2017 champion here, in the third round, but has a tough task to do so as she takes on Miami winner Danielle Collins, who has notched eight consecutive wins.

They’re set to play first up on Credit One Stadium, with the winner of that match to take on the winner of Sloane Stephens vs. Leylah Fernandez, which is also first on the Althea Gibson Club Court.
No.7 seed Elina Svitolina will also get her 2024 Charleston campaign underway on Thursday.
Pegula breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday night (April 2) when she withstood a spirited challenge from fellow American Amanda Anisimova, winning in a third-set tiebreak. She meets Magda Linette of Poland, the world No.63 who has won consecutive matches this week for the first time since early October.
Home hope Emma Navarro is looking to continue her strong start to the event, having dropped just two games in her opening match. She meets Jaqueline Cristian, the 83rd-ranked Romanian who stunned Madison Keys in round two.
