Over 60 local youth got the chance of a lifetime on Monday (April 1) as part of the Credit One Charleston Open’s annual “Tennis in the City” event.

Former world No.2 Paula Badosa and 2021 Australian Open runner-up Jennifer Brady were just two of the stars to join the kids for a clinic in Charleston, in partnership with Fifth Third Bank.

The clinic, which serves as an initiative to grow youth tennis in the Charleston community and provide affordable, quality tennis instruction to kids, also included Charleston Open stars Dayana Yastremska, Lesia Tsurenko and Astra Sharma.

Charleston District Two Councilmember Kevin Shealy was also in attendance.

The tennis pros were joined by members of the College of Charleston tennis team, and spoke to the group before hitting the courts for a myriad of drills and games.

Tennis in the City happens each year during the Charleston Open, serving as a direct connection for local youth to some of the best tennis players in the world.
